[edit] History

Settlers began moving into the area when the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway was completed in 1884. The Brimson depot was later built at the Allen Junction. Brimson was named after its founder, Walter Henry Brimson, an official from the said railroad company. His brother, William George Brimson, has the town of Brimson, Missouri named after him. The family came from Tiverton in Devon, England. Their parents, Elias and Mary, emigrated with the rest of the children in the 1850s.
