Vaidya ("Dr.") Brihaspati Dev Triguna (वैद्य ब्रह्स्पति देव त्रिगुणा, b. 1920) is an expert in nadivigyan, the science of Pulse diagnosis which is a part of the Indian system of Medicine - Ayurveda. Using pulse diagnosis method (by gently touching a person's pulse with the first three fingers on his right hand) Dr. Triguna is able to detect any imbalances within the system—imbalances which are at the basis of present or future health problems. Based on what is felt in the pulse, he is able to recommend natural and effective medicines to restore balance in the body, allowing present disorders to be normalized and future illness to be averted.
Dr. Triguna has served as president of All-India Ayurvedic Congress. He holds several posts for the government of India, including Director of the Central Council for Research on Ayurveda, (Ministry of Health, Government of India) and chairman of the National Academy of Ayurveda.
His clinic (Morning OPD) is located in a small urban village called Sarai Kale Khan behind Delhi's Nizamuddin railway station and in Bhogal (Evening OPD) a market in South Delhi. The morning OPD witnesses a rush of over 300 people everyday. The patients come for diagnosis and ayurvedic medicines (not very expensive)from far-away places of India. Considering that he has been in private practice for over 65 years and has been seeing around 300 people 6 days a week, 350 days a year, the number of diagnosis done by this seasoned physician is mind boggling.
Most of the associations and medical bodies that he has been attached to in the Government of India have been working towards standardisation of Ayurvedic medicines, Certification and supervision of the Ayurvedic Medical colleges offering BAMS degrees (MBBS of Ayurveda - 4 year program) and MD Ayurveda. The Government of India has through the All India Ayurvedic Council aggressively promoted GMP - standards for production of Ayurvedic formulations in the country.
Dr. triguna's advice, guidance and research has been heavily relied upon for these efforts by the Government of India through the years. For his services in this field Dr. Triguna has received the second highest civilian award in India, the Padma Vibhushan Award in 2003. He was the personal vaidya (Ayurvedic Physician) for the President of India.
Dr. Triguna has been associated with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the TM guru who first introduced ayurveda to the western world for promotion of Ayurveda in many countries around the world.
For Maharishi Ayurved, Triguna helped create Amrit Kalash, the rejuvenation formula which has sold worth over one million in the USA alone.
