[edit] Controversy
Recently, the membership of Brightwood Golf and Country Club voted to move their golf course to Anderson Lake in Burnside in a land swap. This exchange would have limited hazards to surrounding homes frequently complained about by neighbours, including noise from maintenance crews and golf balls over fences. It is likely that this 'swap' would have resulted in a low to mid density residentail neighbourhood being built on the land currently owned by the membership. Opposition from residents pressured the city council to turn down the proposal that would have destroyed the largest green space in northern Dartmouth. a public green space, the dartmouth commons is available less than two blocks from the land privately owned by brightwood.
