[edit] Biography
As Brightblack, they toured with Will Oldham in 2002, which led to further collaboration in the form of Brightblack's full-length debut, Ala.Cali.Tucky in 2004, as well as a 2002 split 7" single with Oldham, with both bands covering Kate Wolf songs. Pebbles and Ripples, a split EP with Oldham, was released by Drag City Records in 2004. In 2006, Matador Records released the group's second full-length album, Brightblack Morning Light.
The band was the subject of some criticism regarding the tour rider for its March 7, 2007 concert at Club Congress, a venue in Tucson, Arizona. The tour rider included the following condition: "No U.S. Military entities in any form allowed within the event." The publication of the tour rider on a music blog provoked an "online uproar". Matador Records later apologized for the "miscommunication" and clarified that the band did not want military recruiters on site.[1][2]
