Bridgwater College

Bridgwater College is a further education college based in Somerset. The 2006 Ofsted report states that there were 15,801 students enrolled in 2004/5, and gave an 'Outstanding, grade 1' in all areas assessed.[1] It has centres in Bridgwater, Cannington, Yeovil, Minehead and Paignton (Devon). In 2008 it will become the first college in Somerset to offer the International Baccalaureate.[citation needed]
The College offers courses from entry level through to Higher Education and has links with Bournemouth University, Oxford Brookes University and the University of Plymouth, and is part of the Wessex Partnership, in association with Bath Spa University. In September 2004 it merged with Cannington College to offer a more extensive curriculum of full and part-time courses for school leavers, adults, university level students, the business community and students from overseas.

[edit] Bridgwater Centre
The main campus houses facilities which include a television studio, forensics labs, motorsport centre and the new £8m building devoted to Health & Fitness. The Centre also houses numerous commercial units such as an Early Years Centre, Beauty Salon, Hair Salon, Gym and Travel Agency.
[edit] The Angel Place Skills Centre
This centre is located in the middle of Bridgwater and offers adults IT, literacy and numeracy lessons through flexible attendance.
[edit] Cannington Centre for Land-based Studies
The Cannington Centre was established as Cannington College in 1921. Facilities include a new golf course, equestrian centre, commercially run farm, glass houses covering 1000m², wildlife havens, vineyard and the new animal management centre. Many students reside on site, taking advantage of the purpose built accommodation, restaurant and common room.
[edit] Minehead Skills for Life Centre
The Minehead Centre is a community based IT Centre, designed for adults. The Centre offers a range of free courses including literacy, numeracy and ESOL (English for speakers of other languages).
[edit] Paignton Centre
The Paignton Centre has been established for over ten years and is situated within the grounds of Paignton Zoological Environmental Park. The Centre offers full time courses in Animal Care and Animal Management. It houses its own specialist library, IT suite, common room and collection of mammals and reptiles.
[edit] Yeovil Centre
The Yeovil Centre offers courses in Animal Care, Animal Management, Agriculture and Floristry. Students have access to the Centre’s extensive collection housed at Lufton College. Students can also benefit from facilities on the adjacent Yeovil College Campus.
