Bridgeport is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the Town of Sullivan in Madison County, New York. The population was 1,665 at the 2000 census.

The community of Bridgeport extends partly into Onondaga County and is east of Oneida Park, a hamlet in the Town of Cicero in Onondaga County.

Bridgeport is located at 43°9′16″N, 75°58′30″W (43.154472, -75.974888)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the hamlet has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km²).None of the area is covered with water.

Chittenango Creek, west of Bridgeport is the boundary between the Madison and Onondaga counties.

New York State Route 31 is an east-west highway through the community.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,665 people, 639 households, and 431 families residing in the hamlet. The population density was 912.4 per square mile (353.2/km²). There were 685 housing units at an average density of 375.4/sq mi (145.3/km²). The racial makeup of the area was 96.10% White, 1.20% African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.42% Asian, and 1.62% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.36% of the population.

There were 639 households out of which 32.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% were married couples living together, 11.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.4% were non-families. 26.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.13.

In the community the population was spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.

The median income for a household in the community was $31,358, and the median income for a family was $42,337. Males had a median income of $26,970 versus $26,316 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $14,761. About 10.5% of families and 12.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 19.9% of those under age 18 and 7.5% of those age 65 or over.
