Brides in Bloom

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brides in Bloom is a rock band from Estonia. Founded in 2003 by Martti Leetsar & Mikk Tammepõld while studying at Tallinn University.

In the spring of 2005 Brides released their debut EP No Excuses which gave them a strong position on Estonian music scene & earned a lot of fans. Their single "Believe" was a success in many local charts.

The seeds for the new wave of Estonian rock were planted in the fall of 2003 when Martti Leetsar (aka Mark Lee) and Mikk Tammepold ( Mick) joined together to form the original line up of Brides In Bloom.

After leaving their previous gigs in locally popular bands, the former media art students found themselves in need of a new outlet for the music they didn’t have the opportunity to fully explore in their former bands.

Having similar backgrounds and wide ranging musical influences, which encompassed everything from jazz to prog rock, they began writing and molding what would become the Brides signature sound.

Mikk’s heavy melodic vocal style reminiscent of the great arena rockers of the past is the perfect conduit for the fervent guitar-driven songs and performances that have earned them chart-topping status.

Touring extensively in 2004 and 2005 with such acts as The Rasmus and Flylow and then in support of the No Excuses EP, the Brides have amassed a large and loyal fan base - selling the EP out of stock and boosting the single "The Ride" to the number one position for 3 weeks in 2005, and charting again in 2006 with the number one hit "Believe".[citation needed]

The current lineup includes Mark (rhythm guitar) and Mick (vocals) as well as Priit (Max) Magi on the drums, Viljar Norman on bass and 23 year old guitar virtuoso Taavi Langi on lead guitar. The band is set to release their next EP ‘Love Criminal” at the end of April 2007, with 6 tracks written by singer Mikk Tammepõld, guitarists Martti Leetsar and Taavi Langi, and produced in conjunction with Estonian producers Kristo Kotkas, Johannes Lõhmus, Kaarle Kannelmäe and Aksu Hanttu of the band Entwine.

Recorded at Grooveland Studios in Finland, the EP has already garnered attention for its first release "Tuleb Ette", which has earned the number 1 spot on the Estonian radio charts.[citation needed]
