Brian Wethers (born December 17, 1980 in Carson, California, U.S.) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the New Zealand Breakers in the Australian National Basketball League. Wethers attended college at the University of California in Berkeley after graduating from Murrieta Valley High School in 1999. Wethers primarily plays the small forward or shooting guard position. After college he had NBA pre-draft workouts with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers but was never drafted. Wethers then played for Shandong in China in the 2003-2004 season before moving to the Hunter Pirates in the Australian National Basketball League for the 2004-2005 NBL season. Wethers was a standout for the Pirates, leading the league in scoring with 24.1 points a game and being named the MVP of the Australian league. Wether's strong play took the Pirates to the playoffs, after they had previously only won 2 matches the season before. His signing was a major acquisition for the New Zealand Breakers, who have struggled in the league since their inception in 2003-2004.
