Brian Turner (cricketer)

Brian Turner was a first class cricketer - a right arm medium pace swing bowler and right handed batsman. He was born on 25th July 1938 in Sheffield and has lived his life in Wath-upon-Dearne, near Rotherham.

Brian played 2 matches for Yorkshire CCC - the first in 1960, against the South Africans, and the second in 1961 against Gloucestershire CCC. In the two games that Brian played for his county he took 4 wickets at 11.75 with a best of 2 for 9 against the South Africans - he took 3 for 17 in the match. He scored 7 runs in two completed innings.

He also played cricket for Sheffield United CC in the Yorkshire League and was the professional at Golcar CC in the Huddersfield League for several years - winning the league bowling award on many occasions.

His father Cyril Turner and uncle Francis Irving Turner were also professional cricketers who played in the first class game for Yorkshire CCC.
