[edit] History

Brian was born in California, USA. Growing up, he was part of a group of skaters who called themselves "The Redwood City Bomb Squad". The Bomb Squad included Brian Shima, Pat Lennen, BJ Bernhart and Jim Bell.

In 2000 Brian Shima and his mother moved down south to Encinitas, California so that Brian could be closer to the heart of the industry and the photographers of Daily Bread magazine. In 2003 Brian and friends Jon Elliott and Jan Welch started Rat Tail Distribution, which distributes the companies which they started together, 4x4 Urethane, Ground Control and Vicious Bearings.

Brian Shima also is in a band called the The Moonshiners with Jon Elliott's younger brother Dustin. His current sponsors are 4X4, Ground Control and Vicious. Brian also had a character in the video game Rolling by Rage for the Sony Playstation.

It was officially announced that Brian Shima along with Jon Elliot will be creating a new boot company. The first skate will be an all black boot with some highlights. It will feature a new cuff mold that you can lace all the way up, and a new soul he designed with a free groove system so you can create your own personal groove. It will feature new vicious liners, and an unconstrained toe system, this allows more breathing room and almost eliminates toe pain while skating. It is called NIMH it is 100% skater owned and the new addition to the Rat Tail family. Release is around beginning of December.

Brian Shima has in fact got 4 middle names. Brian Wullferick Postman Pat Adam Shima.
