Brian Ellis is the chief sports writer for the Lancashire Evening Post, the Lancastrian daily newspaper based at Fulwood, near Preston.
Ellis has been on the sports editorial team for over 20 years, and has been the principal Preston North End reporter for much of that time.
The native of Colne is normally replaced by Dave Seddon in the position of main PNE writer when he takes time away from the office, though on occasion the role is also performed by Tony Dewhurst.
Ellis was educated at Colne Grammar School and studied journalism at college in Preston, now the University of Central Lancashire. He entered newspapers with the now-defunct Evening Star in Burnley, sister paper of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph in Blackburn. He joined the Lancashire Evening Post as a senior news reporter in 1976 and joined the sports staff 10 years later.
