[edit] Career

Before entering the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Elliott entered the 2003 NHL Entry draft. He was drafted 291st overall, or second-last. Elliott did not see much playing time during his first two years during his university career. He was used mainly as a backup, yet played very well. He had 3 shutouts in 9 appearances during the 2004–05 season. Elliott became the number one goaltender during the 2005–06 season. He continued to play well, collecting eight shutouts in 33 appearances, leading the Badgers to the 2006 NCAA National Championship. Elliott played 36 more games during the next season. He was signed by the Binghamton Senators to an amateur tryout contract on March 23, 2007 and played eight games.

Elliott was invited to the Ottawa Senators' training camp. He was assigned to Binghamton on September 25, 2007, but recalled four days later to backup Martin Gerber, as Ray Emery was recovering from wrist surgery. On October 10, Elliott earned a win in his first NHL start, against the Atlanta Thrashers.
