Brian Deegan (politician)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Brian Deegan is a former magistrate, who stood against Alexander Downer in the 2004 election in the seat of Mayo in South Australia. Deegan's son Joshua was a professional football player who was one of 164 people killed by Islamic terrorists during the October 2002 Bali bombings. Josh was on a post-season Indonesian holiday with his teammates from the Sturt Football Club, who had just won the South Australian National Football League premiership. [1]
Deegan's grief at the loss of his son saw him blame the Government of John Howard for his death. Brian Deegan took part in the 'Not happy John!' campaign.
