Brian Carpenter is an American composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter. He has composed music for theater, dance, animation, and film. His primary instrument is the trumpet. He is the founder of Beat Circus, a genre-bending ensemble of unorthodox instrumentation which spawned in the early-2000s and spans old-time Americana, cabaret, Eastern European music, and Art rock. He currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 2005 he composed the soundtrack for Providence-based director Lorelei Pepi's 2006 film Happy & Gay. In 2006 he worked with NY producer Martin Bisi to create the Beat Circus album Dreamland.
