Brian Arthur Smith

The Rt Rev.Brian Arthur Smith is the current Bishop of Edinburgh [1]. He was born in Edinburgh on 15 August 1943 and educated at George Heriot's School, Edinburgh [2] and the University of Edinburgh[3]. Ordained in 1973 [4]he began his career with a Curacy at Ripon College Cuddesdon[5]. From here he became successively Director of Training within the Diocese of Wakefield, Archdeacon of Craven and Suffragan Bishop of Tonbridge before elevation to the Edinburgh See[6]. A keen snorkeller and Short wave radio enthusiast[7], he is married with two daughters [8].
