Brian is a fictional character played by Scott Thompson on the American television series The Larry Sanders Show. Throughout the run of the series, his last name is never mentioned.
Brian becomes Hank's personal assistant after the departure of his previous personal assistant, Darlene. Hank initially gets along with Brian extraordinarily well, but becomes aloof after discovering that Brian is gay, and he never quite reconciles himself to that fact. He decides to keep Brian as his assistant because Brian is sensitive to his needs and is a good worker, and he is also able effective at reading people.
On the Not Just The Best Of The Larry Sanders Show DVD set, it was observed that the character of Brian was the only character on the show who did not really have an agenda of his own--he merely wanted to help out Hank.
