[edit] Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Uniforms Hale School.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Uniforms.jpg. The copy called Image:Uniforms.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 05:32, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] PSA Portal

Hey, ive noticed your edits to the Hale School page and thought you might be interested in joining the Portal:Public Schools Association - which has stuff on the PSA, and all of its schools (including Hale). If you are interested, just add your name to the participants section. Thanks. Twenty Years 08:36, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Hey, im somewhat concerned about the images you are uploading onto the hale School page - i have found that the picture of the boy playing the violin is copied directly from the hale website here - images that are not yours or do not have a free license are in violation of copyright, and cannot stay on wikipedia. Please dont upload any more images that you take from sources like the hale school website. Your text edits on the page are quite good - keep up the good work. Twenty Years 09:19, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

The images are from the hale school media archive. Some are also available on the Hale website, although this is co-incidental. The older photos, for instance, are not available anywhere else but the Old Halians online web archive. Similarly, photos of hale sports such as sailing are almost always taken by hale staff members. So while the photos are also on the hale website/sites, in this instance i think they have been used appropriately Brettwest 09:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi, anything I can do to help? Bjelleklang - talk Bug Me 12:12, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Brettwest, images and photographs, like written works, are subject to copyright. Someone holds the copyright unless they have been explicitly placed in the public domain. Images on the internet need to be licensed directly from the copyright holder or someone able to license on their behalf. Image description pages must be tagged with a special tag to indicate the legal status of the images, as described at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Untagged or incorrectly-tagged images will be deleted. The Wikimedia Foundation has a strict policy of complying with copyright law.

Most of the images you uploaded would be under copyright to the college or the photographer who took them and therefore they are unsuitable for use at Wikipedia. For a possibly better explanation, see Wikipedia:Copyrights. In some cases, fair use guidelines may allow a photograph to be used. Image:Oldhale Havelock.jpg may fall into that category. Images taken in Australia before 1955 are in the public domain. I've retagged Image:Hale School Students 1929 v2football match.jpg and Image:Hale School Students 1929 football match.jpg accordingly. All of the other images have been deleted. —Moondyne 13:20, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
