According to the Mobile Register on November 21, 2006, Brett Butler was named manager of the newly acquired Arizona Diamondbacks Double -A team, the Mobile Bay Bears ( formerly of the San Diego Padres fram system )for the 2007 season
Humorously, it might be presumed that Butler's 2006 "possible heart attack" simply reflected Butler's first realization that he just couldn't "control" a game as a manager as he might as the "bunt to get on first, steal to get on second, and run to go home from second" type of player he was. All new managers presume they can "control" the game--they only can for various moments--if they're lucky--and if they're thinking ahead.
Still, Butler might be presumed to make a good National League manager--somewhere down the road.
