Talk:Bret Wolfe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- We should consider deleting this page -- after months it is not expanded nor is it notable and there are many problems with it especially no references, citations or footnotes. Many porn stars seem to want to write about themselves which is not the point of Wikipedia or any Encyclopedia! Roz Lipschitz 08:18, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] One of Worst Articles on WP!
- Time and again the tags and requests for citations are removed from this article! Also, time and again, the date that this article was tagged for no references is changed... This article is full of original researsch and talks about the subjects plans for the future. This is unencyclopedic. Also it talks about columns the subject writes as well as prodctions he was in etc... Funny how no one can cite their sources on this! This is clearly an auto-biography and an advertisement and it does not meet Wikipedia's standards. Furthermore, it mentions the subject's relationship with sobriety -- there have been many recent sitings of him at Hamburgar Mary's in West Hollywood, CA where he was higher than a kyte... this article needs to be referenced or deleted! Wikipedia is not a place for a drug and sex addicted kid to brag about himself! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robin Redford (talk • contribs) 18:11, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Interesting point. It is not appropriate for one ot Advertise "sobriety;" It is also unencyclopedic to mention plans for hte future and projects in the works -- save this for the magazine articles and then you will finally have osme references to quote! Certainly, if the subject indeed won these awards there was some press references to it? It has been months and months and NO ONE can come up with a single source for this article... This article is messy and VERY Autobiographic! Also when one is in sobriety isn't he supposed to be anonymous? Every one of the alleged things the subject has one should be cited!Roz Lipschitz 01:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
OK now this article has certain footnotes to BOGUS sites on the web, some have nothing to do with Bret Wolf and others are TOTALLY 100% self-published and inapropriate sources! This is not acceptable! And, places where it has clearly stated "citation needed" have been removed -- again totally inapropriate as there are manu bold and audacious statements here which absolutely must be verified by a reliable source - NOT A BOGUS or self-published source. Furthermore per WP IMDB is only to be used as an external link and is NOT a reliable source! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.86.123.229 (talk) 04:56, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
As per above, IMDB is not a reliable source for WP but may be used as an external link. The person who has attempted to reference this article has not real WP's guidelines for doing so. Well this article is appropriately tagged though I truly feel it should be deleted as it is full of unencyclopedic informaiton Roz Lipschitz 22:29, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Again, IMDB is not a reliable source especialy for a birth date! Plus there are a lot of interesting details for the reader the the writers of this article purpusely omit! Robin Redford 19:27, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
I agree with these comments. If you look at the "see also" and external links and what the author has tried to use as references, you will immediately see that most of these sites and links are places which can easily be edited by the subject. It is very clear that Bret Wolfe has written this himself (against WP guidelines) and that he uses it for advertising himself as an actor or sex performer. He has also placed some inappropriate personal messages on inappropriate places on WP. This needs to stop and either this article get regerenced by reliable sources and written in encyclopedia style or it be deleted. LaniMakani 23:04, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
An editor named Durova has edited this page but does not realize the difference between an External Link and a Reference. Also, he does not follow the guideline to put a comment in talk regarding his edits. The article contains spam as well - THIS ARTICLE NEEDS TO BE CLEANED UP! Either re-write this inexcusable article or DELETE it! This is pathetic! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.86.105.146 (talk) 12:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

- Socketpuppeting, unconstructive behaviors, the airing of personal animosities--none of these things belong in Wikipedia. Minus the drama the socks are correct about the poor quality of this entry. It needs reliably sourced information, and autobiographies are not appropriate. Databases to which one anyone can add information are not idea sources for films and television either. There are reliable databases with biographical information and filmographies, and if he isn't in them, he probably isn't notable. - NOTE: Shouldn't the references on this article be listed in such a way that they will appear as a "References" section below that one can go to and click on etc as well as cited in the text? I think this would improve the aticle tremendously. Rednath 23:33, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Deletion?
- Isn't it about time to consider this miserable article for deletion? Fuzzyred (talk) 06:06, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

- Truly this can be written better. I see no significance in keeping it though. Delete! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.167.91.119 (talk) 03:05, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
