[edit] August 2007

Brent Lee Morel was a U S Marine Captain, received the Navy Cross for Valor and gave his live for his country. He is certainly notable, and a part of American History. The Navy Cross is the highest award granted by the Navy, and second only to the Medal of Honor in terms of significance.

To arbitrarily delete his article is a disservice to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

[edit] Please review the entry's page at AfD for details

I noticed that after many months of redirecting to a deleted page, you've created the article Brent Morel. I thought since you expressed your desire to know why it was removed in your edit summary, I'd let you know the reasons it was previously removed. While I fully understand the desire for family and friends to see loved ones on Wikipedia, I also realize that the what Wikipedia is not policy must be upheld, and it would appear this article fails Wikipedia's notability requirements for biographies. Wikipedia is not a memorial site, and this article was previously deleted, and the redirected page was deleted multiple times.

However, rather than simply placing a "Speedy Deletion" tag on the article, I have decided to allow the community vote on the issue, and you can see the article's entry here. Anonymous (IP) editors are not allowed to vote on items for deletion, but feel free to create an account, and voice your opinion. I hope this explains the issue, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. ArielGold 03:03, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

  • There are quite a few reliable source news articles available here. - Dean Wormer 03:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Update: That is great news Dean! Thanks for finding those! This article doesn't conform to the manual of style currently, but initial discussions at AfD appear promising (which I wish to let you know was my hope, I wanted the article kept, but many memorial articles are not, sadly), so this article would require cleanup if kept.
