Talk:Breather
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Would like to rate this article, but cannot at the moment as the scope is unclear: for instance, is it related to breather solutions in the theory of solitons (see e.g. Sine-Gordon equation, which links here)? Geometry guy 19:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Dab needed?
Also need disambiguation in that a breather is also a pressure relief device. I lack the expertise to write even that, though. 167.115.255.20 20:11, 3 August 2006
[edit] Merge
I think merge with oscillon is bad idea. Better is to keep a separate article, and possibly to collect the images, animations of breathers arising in as solutions of different types of math equations. I have put the sine-Gordon breather images as illustrations of the current article. Danko Georgiev MD 04:03, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
- Question: I have read the definition of oscillon and I have obtained the impression that oscillon is type of breather, however the inverse is not true - not every breather is oscillon. If so, the person who inputted the information on oscillon, must delete the comment that standing breathers are called also *oscillons*. I heard this for first time in Wikipedia.
