Inside view of 12 position breakerpanel on Level 4.

This is a picture I took of our upstairs breaker panel (the one on the top floor), in our front livingroom, which is fed by a 70A 3pole breaker in the panel that's located one floor down.

I license this picture for use in Wikipedia.

Red, Black, and Blue phases (the three "hot" or "live" wires) come in the bottom. Section 4, Part 36, of the electrical code, specifies the "red-black-blue" ordering. The white wire (neutral) goes to a neutral bar at the top of the panel.

The breaker panel is mounted so it's inset, into the drywall, flush with the wall.

There are 12 positions, six of which are shown. The six positions are taken up by two 3phase (3pole) breakers. The one on the left supplies two triplex receptacles. The one on the right supplies an L21-30 receptacle, into which a portable breaker panel is often connected for special events.
