Brett Aspinall was a character in the TV series Waterloo Road, who is portrayed by Tom Payne.

[edit] Show introduction

Brett chose to join Waterloo Road to commence his A-level studies. His father Roger Aspinall then became a sponsor governor of the school. He now clearly hates Jack Rimmer and his father (although when Jack Rimmer was forced to resign, he was amongst the crowd who were protesting, claiming that his classmate, Janeece could be quite persuasive).

In series 2, Brett started a relationship with Mika Grainger, but the relationship ended up on the rocks when he slept with Mika's sister, Chlo. Brett was in trouble with Mr Rimmer on several occasions, most notably when he smashed a model of the proposed academy as "revenge" on his father.

[edit] Personality

He is a clever student, especially good at French, and was favoured by Steph Haydock until she discovered his relationship with Davina Shackleton and has a major grudge against him sending him to Rimmer's office for nothing. Jack suspected that Davina (by now his girlfriend) had been cheating on him with Brett, but it was soon established that the relationship had taken place before Brett or Davina were even at the school.

Brett has a bar in his bedroom, after a party with Mika and Leigh-Ann Galloway he found himself in trouble with his dad, as Leigh-Ann had taken a photograph of Mika topless and placed it on a "hate" website.

Brett's mum died when he was 15 and his dad Roger Aspinall had an affair while his mum was dying, according to a letter from his mum she knew about this and was happy for it to happen.

Brett is a rich boy. After putting Mika off by flashing his cash, he cooks her a meal. When she turns up and finds his room all fancy with silver tableware she is not too happy until he reveals it's only beans on toast!

In the first episode of series 3, Donte Charles asked Brett to be his best man at his wedding to Chlo, Mika's sister. While tutoring Chlo in French, the two shared a kiss and later ended up in bed leaving him shocked.

However, there is a possibility that he does not love Mika as much as was assumed as he does the same thing a day later, only this time his luck ran out as he and Chlo were both caught by Donte. Donte punched Brett, leaving Brett to contemplate reporting the crime to the police, they met at the police station as Donte was prepared to hand himself in. Brett told Donte not to do so and Donte responded that it didn't make them even.

[edit] False Hope?

Brett now clearly wants to get back with Mika, but he'll have his work cut out! When Mika thought she was pregnant, Brett's hopes were raised as he thought that having a family would help them get back together, he was quite disappointed when it turned out to be a false alarm.

Subsequently, Brett's hopes were raised once again when he and Mika successfully pulled off 'Park Side Story' the chemistry was there and he opened up to the idea that perhaps they could give their relationship another try, he was brought back to earth with a nasty thud when she asserted that she was only acting! Even his attempt to get her to write for his school paper was a thinly-veiled attempt to get back with her, which Mika saw through. There appears to be a long way to go before the two of them are reconciled as a couple.

Brett also tried to win her back by protesting with her about the school's plans to cut down the trees for construction work. They climbed a tree together, in front of a fleet of diggers. Brett was less than happy but he did it for Mika.

In recent weeks, they seem to be getting closer and closer but it is unknown whether it will go further than friendship. However, in the series finale, Brett was seen to have been comforting Mika as the fire men put the flames out, making it likely they're back together.
