Brent Michael Buckman[1] is a former contestant on Donald Trump's The Apprentice 5. He is a Canadian from Toronto, Ontario and now resides in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He is the creator of his own diet on which he claims to have lost 70 pounds (32 kg) and 12 inches (30 cm) off his waist.

[edit] Life during The Apprentice

Brent caused much controversy during his time on The Apprentice. He was assigned to Synergy the first week and had a lot of problems working with his team mates. Donald Trump didn't like many of the ideas he came up with and thought of him as "a joke." Another candidate, Stacy, claimed to be afraid of him and Trump found this idea so laughable he fired her. Also that week, Pepi was fired mostly for saying Brent made it impossible to do his job as Project Manager. But Donald Trump also told Brent he would be leaving the show very soon. Trump also took a cheap shot at Brent the next week when he remarked that several competitors would not be involved with the task due to the Rosh Hashanah holiday, and said that this showed life could be unfair--and added that it was pretty much unfair that Brent was still around.

Brent was finally fired in week 4. There were many reasons for the firing. First, the fact that he was hard to get along with made it impossible for him to be effective in real world tasks. Also, Trump and George Ross were critical of Brent for not being clear about what he was supposed to do and complaining about being marginalized (which, to be fair, was exactly what Synergy had done, giving him only busy work assignments). The task that week was to create an advertisement for Post's Grape-Nuts cereal. Brent argued that he should have been allowed to make the presentation, but Trump sympathized with project leader's pretext for not allowing him-because he was overweight. Ironically, several of Brent's teammates had already decided they would not attack him in the Boardroom because he had been given nothing to do and therefore was not responsible for the many losing errors Synergy made, but Brent launched a pre-emptive verbal strike against the team's management that ended up sinking him. Donald Trump fired Brent without having a final Boardroom session.

Brent was brought back with the rest of the candidates so that the two finalists, Lee and Sean, could pick their teams for the final task. Brent was not chosen to be on either team.
