Brendan Muldowney

Brendan Muldowney is an Irish screenwriter, director and producer, currently working with independent production company SPFilms.Brendan Muldowney is a graduate of Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art and Design. Since 1994 he has made nine short films.

He received a FilmBase / RTÉ Funding Award in 1998 for his short film – “Retribution in the Year 2050”, and one in 2003 for “The Honourable Scaffolder”. He finished the Irish Film Board / RTÉ funded SHORT CUT – “Beauty Queen” in 2003. His short Innocence won the Tiernan Mac Bride – Best Irish Short Award at the Galway Film Fleadh 2002, Best Short / Best Director at the Kerry Film Festival 2002 and Best International Short at the Roma Independent Film Festival 2003. His short “The Ten Steps” has won many awards including Best short at The Sitges international film festival. Grand Prize at The New York International Children's Film Festival. Best short at The New York Film Fleadh, best short at The Neuchatel Film Festival, Best short at The Ravenna nightmare film festival, Best short at The Puchon Int. film festival, The Diversions Stella Artois award and is nominated for a Melies d’Or. His most recent is a 3 minute “Short Short” for the Irish Film Board entitled “Final Journey”

He is now writing and developing several Feature film projects- “Savage” an original idea by Brendan Muldowney, developed with the Irish Film Board. “In Love with the Dead” an adaptation of the novel by Kei Oishi (The Grudge) also developed with the Irish Film Board, and a TV series-“The Getter” developed with RTÉ television.
