Brenda Jenkins was a supporting character on the hit situation comedy, 227, she was portrayed by Regina King in her first nationwide acting role.

In the series, Brenda is shown as a hard-working, studious daughter and only child to her father, Lester, a construction worker, and mother, Mary, a typical no-nonsense mother/housewife. Brenda, however developed a crush with her mother Mary's best friend, Pearl Shay's grandson, Calvin Dobbs. Calvin becomes Brenda's love affection and later boyfriend in the final years of the series.
In the 1985-1986 school year, around November, Calvin asked Brenda if he wanted to go to the school dance with him, Brenda agreed, and as a result, when on a weeknight after coming home from her middle school, decorating for the school dance. Brenda sucks up to her parents and admits that she agreed to go to the dance with Calvin, as a natural fact, Brenda's parents refuse, but the dance don't end until 11:30pm.
