[edit] Image:SEYMOUR.jpg listed for deletion

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:SEYMOUR.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 13:48, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

You asked:

You flagged a picture seymour.jpg but I cant figure out how to change the setting. We own the picture.

Who owns the picture? You personally, your school? You change the setting by clicking the edit button on the top of the image description page, here Image:SEYMOUR.jpg. Then add one of the tags in the message above if you own it. If someone else owns it, they can either make an account and upload it themselves or you can use Wikipedia:Example requests for permission to send a permission email. Any other questions, feel free to ask. HighInBC (Need help? Ask me) 14:01, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

== Grievances== : Well, Mr. Brandt Schneider, class of 1987 graduate, and former coach of the newtown high school indoor track team, I am curious as to why you have deleted the current article amendments. I appreciate your ongoing investment in the school, but there is no reason to delete the recently posted material. It is properly cited, and just because you disagree with the style of writing does not mean it is necessarily “silly”. I respect your editing decision, but I also ask you to respect mine. I take it that you have been out of Newtown High for a long time, and you are not aware of the currently student attitudes and their perceptions towards their school. I believe that this article currently reflects the contemporary student body of Newtown High School and addresses their concerns, which have been largely ignored. Although you may not disagree with this material, it does not give the right to destroy it. I ask you this : What better way to tell history than by those who are making it?

[edit] Editing other people's comments

Hey brandt... I saw the small conflagration on plasticbadge's talk page... uhh... I am not mad or anything... but uh... one pice of wikipedia:wikiquette is that it's not really kosher to edit other people's comments... even if you are doing damage control. I understand and support your reasons and appreciate your promptness, but I would recommend that whoever is editing with IP address User:64.251.50.68 be encouraged to edit their own comments next time. If it keeps happening to a problematic degree, that IP address will be blocked ... and in that case we would need to have the comment be there as evidence for the IP block. Feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. MPS 16:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I checked the page on how to do it. I'm not trying to upset anybody's feelings but I can't keep those words up on any page connected to SHS. Wikipedia had a clear page on how to bracket out the words. I think I did it correctly.BrandtSchneider 16:44, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, the best way to do damage control in that case is to say "I am going to delete those words if that is ok with everyone" and then wait a few days for people to weigh in ... just deleting every dirty words others write is sorta breaking the rules, and wikipedia doesn't censor for sensitive ears. Now if it is on Plastic's talk page you can just ask him (nicely) to delete them and he might consider it. For now I would suggest that you let the issue die. Does SHS know that wikipedia has articles on several taboo subjects? Just wondering what the stakes are. MPS 17:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm with you and I understand and I'm not trying to censor anyone. But I can't wait a few days when its connected to our site. I did check the policy page for wikipeia, and I realize that some people disagree with it.BrandtSchneider 18:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Aha, I see you have discovered WP:IAR. MPS 20:37, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
