[edit] GunWiki

I'm not sure I have all that much time to devote to a new project right now, but I do encourage you to mirror some Wikipedia pages; as I understand it, you are free to copy the content as long as you credit Wikipedia. About.com, for example, does this.

I do have some stuff that I've written for my web page that I'd be happy to contribute; I've got an article on cyrogenic treatment (which I need to update, as I have some material that was mailed to me by one of the people who did some research on the topic) and another on adjusting the trigger overtravel on the Ruger MKII pistol. Let me know if you're interested and I'll point you to it. scot 16:25, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

And if you're interested in airgun stuff, I developed a sear engagement adjustment for the Crosman 2240 series of pistols a few years back; pictures and instructions can be found at http://sports.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/backyardmarksmanship/photos/browse/949d

Just credit it Scot Alexander, and link back to the origin. scot 17:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Just thought of some more stuff you might be interested in. Don Nygord, who died in Dec. 2004, was a long time member of the US Olypmic shooting team, and holder of a number of US records. He had an online store that sold competition equipment, and had some good advice in the "Nygord's Notes" section. His family is keeping the notes portion of the website up for now, but they might not be averse to you mirroring the content in your Wiki. Go to http://www.nygordprecision.com/. There is no contact information for his family, but you might be able to get in touch with them through Larry's Guns, who took over some of the business when Don died. scot 20:53, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and a followon to the grip modification articles can be found at the Target Talk archive at Pilkington, here: http://www.pilkguns.com/arch/arch054.htm I think the quote On the other hand, the shooter that shows up with an elegantly shaped grip with unadorned patches of "Bondo" will strike fear in the hearts of his opponents! is just classic... scot 21:07, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert to my talk page! delldot | talk 00:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Good work on the vandalwhacking! Let me know if you want to find more antivandal tools. Yeah, s/he was doing that to a lot of pages; we should watch out in case s/he creates another sock and starts back up. delldot | talk 00:52, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, you're already in Category:Counter-Vandalism Unit members because of the user box, but I can't recall a list anywhere. I could be wrong, maybe look around WP:CVU, I do have a tendency of missing obvious stuff. Peace, delldot | talk 01:08, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Will do, keep in touch! delldot | talk 01:13, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Responding to Help

Hey Brain,

I'm sorry, but I don't think I know enough about firearms to be of any real help. I'm looking over the Wiki though, it looks great! Also, there is not, to my knowledge, a Confederate States of America WikiProject. Reb 02:55, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Freddy Krueger

Looks like they were meant for the user talk page, this mistake happens often. CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 00:45, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Truthfully, I only use Wikipedia. I checked though, and the first name I noticed on Commons who's also an admin here is User:Buchanan-Hermit, I'd suggest asking him. CanadianCaesar Et tu, Brute? 01:55, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Commons pics

Okay. Well, just to make sure (I'm sure you got it, but I'm going to repeat it so there's no confusion), basically you upload a picture or file to the Commons, and when you link to the image (for example, when you type in [[Image:Some-picture.jpg|thumb|Some caption]] ), Wikipedia will be able to grab Some-picture.jpg from Commons, as if it was uploaded onto Wikipedia already. The only difference is the file's NOT on Wikipedia but on Commons. The advantage to this is that ALL the Wikipedias in different languages can link to the same image, without the need to upload the files individually to each Wikipedia.

Hopefully that was what you already found out. :) -→Buchanan-Hermit™/?! 06:25, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] question

I saw that you are a conservative Wikipedian. Would you like to join Conservapedia as a editor? Conservapedia is looking for good editors and Admins. Please send me your email if you want to join Conservapedia. If you feel reticient about giving out your email address you can simply create a new account at hotmail and yahoo so you don't risk getting a lot of junk mail. Please be aware of WP:3RR --Tjsynkral 19:06, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sure

He's warned me for WP:3RR as well, but it doesn't apply for blatant vandalism so, we're fine. FireSpike 19:12, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

FYI, blanking one's own User Space does not qualify as vandalism. Tread carefully. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tjsynkral (talkcontribs) 19:14, 1 April 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Talk vandalism

Actually, from WP:Vandalism, removing warnings is generally considered vandalism..."Talk page vandalism...Removing the comments of other users from talk pages other than your own, aside from removing internal spam, vandalism, etc. is generally considered vandalism. Removing personal attacks is often considered legitimate, and it is considered acceptable to archive an overly long talk page by creating an archive page and moving the text from the main talk page there. The above rules do not apply to a user's own talk page, where this policy does not itself prohibit the removal and archival of comments at the user's discretion. Please note, though, that removing warnings from one's own talk page is often frowned upon...." You were correct about User:Tjsynkra removing warnings from his page.Rlevse 21:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

see debate (I almost call it trolling) just above your entry on my talk page. I'm pretty much going to ignore it.Rlevse 23:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Note: An incident has been opened regarding this matter. --Tjsynkral 23:56, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Help

Hey - yeah there are loads of tools you can use to make reverting vandalism easier and quicker. The two that I use mostly are Vandalfighter and Twinkle. Vandalfighter gives a scrolling list of recent edits that highlights different types so you can click on them and review them. Twinkle is a set of tools that adds a "rollback" button when you are looking at the diff of an edit. This reverts the edits by that user. Twinkle also makes it easier to do loads of other useful vandal fighting things like give users warnings, report users to WP:AIV and request page protections. I find that vandalfighter and twinkle work great together. If you want an all in one program, you might like to try either Vandalproof (if you run Windows) or Vandalsniper (if you run Linux), but for each of these you will need to request approval before using them. Hope that's useful. Good luck! Will (aka Wimt) 01:41, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Signature

Hello there. As a courtesy for other editors, kindly observe Wikipedia guidelines and sign your talk page and user talk page posts. To do so simply add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your comments and your user name or IP address and the date will be automatically added. Meanwhile, you are more than welcome to move coding currently found in your template to Special:Preferences, while enabling the "Raw signature" option. Thanks. Michaelas10 17:24, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Visually it doesn't matter whether you use ~~~~ or the template followed by a timestamp, but I strongly recommend using the former to avoid complications resulted after a template change or deletion. Please consider it. Michaelas10 19:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm glad it worked out. Once again you are welcome to move the formatting to your preferences, but you should still adhere the WP:SIG guidelines for appearance and color. Thanks. Michaelas10 19:53, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A question

You said on you user-page, you were interested in mdievel history. Me to! Care to help me with an article called Pier Gerlofs Donia? It is about a giant freedom fighter and folk hero, and seems to be highly interesting? Interested? Let me now ! -)-(-H- (|-|) -O-)-(- 05:50, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Italian Civil War

I am not sure that I can help. I mostly work on organizing categories. The article here does not have must content so there do not seem to be many categories to organize. Sorry. Hmains 02:06, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP:CVU status

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you!
