Text to merge:

The Brandybucks are a hobbit family, who like the Tooks, are rather adventerous and to respectable hobbits "queer". The most famous Brandybuck is Meriadoc son of Saradoc.

I see no real need to merge, this info is already present. Jor 19:27, 23 Feb 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Merry's sister Emerald

Where is the authority that Merry has a sister named Emerald?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.17.174.18 (talk) 15:44, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

She is fancruft (as are several other other entries in this table). I've removed them. Elphion 20:11, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry; I'm using 'fancruft' in a private sense: I mean "a detail invented by fan writers, not appearing in Tolkien's work". I should qualify that: "not appearing anywhere I know of in Tolkien's work". That's why I added the request for citation on any additions to the table. But Emerald, at least, has been claimed as an "original character" by a fan writer. I apologize in advance to anyone offended by 'fancruft', but I do get exasperated by non-canonical material showing up in these pages — and then these pages being cited as authority for their authenticity!
