Upon moving in proximity to the old Branchville line in 1979, I was read a ghost story pertaining to the area. According to the story which appeared, I believe, in the Ridgefield Press, a train crashed in the area of Florida Hill Road around the turn of the century killing everyone aboard. The ghost story was of course based upon this alleged tragedy. Does anyone remember this story, perhaps possessing a refutation of the incident (not the 'ghost story' part)? I ask because having explored the middle section of the defunct train line rather extensively as a child I was always under the impression that the line had been abandoned for over 80 years as oppossed to 20.
