Vergelijking kolblei of Blei (Boven) Blicca bjoerkna en brasem Abramis brama(Onder). De kolblei heeft wat rood bij de borstvin, grovere schubben, iets meer zilveren kleur en een stompere snuit. Bij dit formaat valt het rood bij de borstvin het meest op, bij kleinere dieren is het nog niet te zien en kun je de schubben tussen rugvin en zijlijn tellen. Deze vissen zijn nogal beschadigd, doordat ze met de nl:zegen zijn gevangen. (Horsterwold, Zuidelijk Flevoland.(Kolblei<10#)

Fish at the top is a Silver Bleak (Blicca bjoerkna, the fish at the bottom is a Bream (Abramis brama) The siver Bream is recognizable by the larger scales. Counting the scales in a linear row from the implant of the backfin to the lateral line can exclude the Bream which has more then 11 scales there. This also works for very small fish. Other differences recognizable at this stage are the silvery color, the blunt nose , the reddish implant and differing shape of the pectoral fin in the Silver Bream. Dutch specimens from the Horsterwold , Flevoland.
