Bratislava hlavná stanica

Bratislava hlavná stanica (usually translated from Slovak as Bratislava main railway station, short form: Bratislava hl.st.) is the main railway station of Bratislava. It is located at the northern edge of the Old Town, near Šancová street.
The first station building, now serving as headquarters of the railway police, was built in 1848 as a terminus for the Vienna - Gänserndorf - Bratislava and Břeclav - Bratislava lines. The second building was built after constructing track to Budapest around 1850s and is used to this day. The third building was built in 1988 as an extension to the existing second building.
At first, the station was also a freight railway station, but as passenger traffic grew, freight loading stations were relocated elsewhere.
Trains from this station depart to Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Poland and the rest of Slovakia.
