[edit] Name
Despite the word "Law" in the name, the School offers a variety of education programmes and courses. Because of the new faculties and divisions opened, the School would like to change its name.[3]
[edit] History
The Bratislava School of Law was founded in 2004 by a non-profit organisation, Bratislavská akademická spoločnosť (English: Bratislava Academic Society). The establishment of the School is often credited to Ján Čarnogurský, a former Slovak prime minister, and member of the Academic Society.[4] It was founded as the 28th College in Slovakia and the fourth private college.[5]
[edit] Faculties and Institutes
As of July 2007 the School has three Faculties:
[edit] Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law was founded in 2004: it is the School's oldest faculty. It offers courses in law, especially focusing on international and European law. Teaching is bilingual and multilingual.[6] After three years of study students may attain the Bachelor's degree, or after two more years the Master of Laws degree.
The Faculty is a member of the international ERASMUS programme and the academic programme ELPIS.[7] The Dean of the Faculty is Jaroslav Ivor.[8] The main building of the Faculty of Law is on Tomášikova street in Ružinov, Bratislava. The building was opened on September 26, 2006.[9] The Faculty also has a seat in Brno.
[edit] Faculty of Economics and Business
The Faculty of Economics and Business was founded in July 2005. There are three levels of study: Bachelor level, Engineer level and Postgraduate level. The Dean of the Faculty is Milan Rajňák.[10] The Faculty's building is located on Tematínska Street in Petržalka, Bratislava.
