Bras Piqué
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bras Piqué was the mother of a Great Sun of the Natchez people in the early-18th century, who, friendly to the French, attempted — or later claimed she had attempted — to warn them of plans by her tribe to attack them by surprise. She eventually was deported to Havana at the destruction of the Natchez nation in 1731, where she was sold as a slave.
Her name, meaning "Pricked Arm", is a French translation of her Natchez name which is unknown.
Bras Piqué is also the name of a fictional French pirate in the Victor Herbert light opera Naughty Marietta.
