Bradley Andrew Benson was a fictional character on the short-lived sitcom, Angie. He was played by actor Robert Hays.
[edit] Angie's Prince Charming
Brad is the son of widowed industrialist Randall Benson, and scion of one of the wealthiest families in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He had grown up in the lap of luxury and went to the best schools most of his life. He went to medical school and was one of the most promising pediatricians in the city. He was close to his reserved; overbearing; three-times divorced older sister, Joyce, and was close to his young niece Hilary (Tammy Lauren).
However, he was also one of the most eligible bachelors in Philadelphia. As a pediatrician, he worked across the street from the Liberty Coffee Shop, where he was mistaken as a poor med student by one Angie Falco. She slipped him some danish, until he revealed who he really was. It didn't matter to Angie, because she fell in love with him, and he with her.
Naturally his family was mortified, and her family was somewhat surprised when it came out that they were engaged. They had planned to elope, because their families mixed like oil and water. Angie's mother, Theresa Falco, was saddened because she had always dreamed of giving eldest daughter Angie a huge wedding. To avoid any trouble this would cause, the couple acceded to a small family wedding, which included his family.
After the wedding, Brad and Angie lived in the mansion that he grew up in, replete with a butler named Phipps (Emory Bass), who liked Angie. However, Angie felt totally out of the place in the luxurious mansion; and so Brad bought a smaller house which was nearby. The place was a duplex, which allowed Brad to see his young patients in the downstairs area which he made into his office; and he and Angie lived upstairs.
In spite of, or perhaps despite, their differing lifestyles, Brad loved Angie and her family very much. Theresa grew to love her rich son in-law, as did Angie's sister, Marie (Debralee Scott). Although his father came to like Angie, Joyce was somewhat cool to her; but didn't outright hate her. Hilary, however, thought her new Aunt Angie was terrific.
Brad helped Angie buy the coffee shop she used to work at, and then with his help, sold it and the news stand Theresa worked at, and they bought a Beauty shop.
