A couple of years later he got hooked up with Third Day at a benefit concert that he was also playing in. Eight months later Third Day was looking for another guitarist so he joined up for a try. After a second try-out where he crafted the lead guitar parts for the early hits "Blackbird" and "Consuming Fire," they knew it was a perfect fit.
