I have looked over some of your edits to the Western New England College article. There seems to be a pattern of removing information that may be factual but not flattering. I also understand that you are an employee of the article's subject. It is generally expected that contributors in this situation refrain from making edits themselves. Recusal is expected in order to avoid inherent conflicts of interest. This especially true when the employee is specifically charged with marketing. I'd like the my edit to that template, changing "Western New England" to "Western New England College" to be made. I work at Western New England College and we never refer to the College as Western New England. Please let me know your thoughts. 18:04, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Bpayne4001
- Hey there. Thanks for the message. I understand your desire, but here's the issue: Wikipedia isn't for "official" terminology and propoganda, and more opposed to it than anything. The entire template uses shortened versions of names (Gordon for Gordon College, Eastern Nazarene for Eastern Nazarene College -- even though no one calls it Eastern Nazarene), and standardising coverage is something Wikipedia supports. Essentially, your desire to change a standardised template isn't enough to keep the edit. Your only other option would be to change all the names to full names, so that it's still standardised and you'll get your way with the full name ;-). Aepoutre (talk) 21:06, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
