I request please do not delete Boya gotras as it is very important for the our caste as it represents lineage.

For the Vedic Hindu followers they need to know their Gotra and Pravar in various religious ceremonies like, wedding, post death ceremonies like Shradhha, Paksha, Uttarkriya. The reason is that when a person does a religious ceremony at that time he remembers this forefather and ancestors and it this Gotra and Pravar which tell the family tree. This is a 5000 year old tradition. This is well documented on various stone carvings and copper plates. The gotras of other castes are similar to boyar. so in order to give better knowledge for future generation the gotras is added in wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vencola (talkcontribs) 11:59, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

  • You need to add some explanation to this page - just a list with no explanation is liable to be speedy-deleted as providing no context for the reader. I have added an {{underconstruction}} tag whch will protect it for a short time, to give you time to add an explanation. JohnCD (talk) 22:43, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
  • I have removed the {{underconstruction}} tag, as the explanation I asked for has been added and the article no longer needs protection. JohnCD (talk) 19:52, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
