[edit] Cleanup

NOTE: Just added a bunch of material to this page. I (pretty comprehensively) indexed the comic and came up with a list of major storylines and one of all characters.... but it's pretty rough-looking. No organization, just two big lists. Any help in that area would be awesome. Dac2chari 21:21, 25 February 2007 (UTC)dac2chari

Just been cleaning up this page. It needed a lot of work. Still does, in fact. It would be great if we could get a list of all major story occurances; a list of all minor characters (Tybalt's roommate; Mik's poker-buddies); some date-refernces or strip-number-refernces to some of the storys, etc. Romansanders 17:51, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm putting stuff up as I go. While I've got a knack for conveying the story and characters, my editing is sub par. Eeeesh. Thanks for puting up with my rough work. I have to say I agree with the Date reference. Grouping them into episodes and brief summeries makes looking back on it a whole lot easier, considering its devided into one comic per day, for over...three-four years? ChipNoir

That's no problem :) I'm more than happy to help. What you write is good and concise so keep up the good work! About the date-reference thing... it'd be really good, but trawling through the whole thing once or twice? Unfortunately I haven't the time at the moment... If you have, or if you know someone who does it'd be an uber-shibby addition to the article! Romansanders 22:42, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm setting out to re-read the series soon over the next few weeks, so I'll start composing "Episode lists" over time. One of these days I will get off my ass and learn how to edit!.....Someday.... ChipNoir

[edit] TOC

Much as the layout is to be touted, thumbs-up-all-around, the TOC is Incredibly Laborious and Something Ought To Be Done about it. Bo-Lingua 17:45, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I totally agree... though what can be done? there's always the option to hide it. It may be possible to put all the characters into a table, though again this may be hard to navigate. What about a totally separate page for characters? I was on the Veronica Mars page lately and noticed each character had their own page. Thoughts? Romansanders 18:28, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't think that the BMB characters need their own (individual) page. I think that there should be a blurb to the effect of "BMB had a long list of principle characters and a long list of secondary characters as well." and flesh it out to a good-length paragraph and have it prefaced by a "see full article" link at the top. I would prolly say to break it down by Mikhail's friends, Harley's Band in the paragraph, just summarizing who there is and then have the whole list. Make sense? Sound good? Bo-Lingua 18:41, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
I like the idea of a see full article thingy... So would it just be those summary paragraphs on the BMB page and then the current list on the new page? or would it be different on the new page? sorry i'm just a bit anal in the way i like to organise things systematically (it was one of my main reasons for cleaning up the page in the first place) Romansanders 18:47, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
If there is going to be a section for each main storyline, then i think some minor characters can be included in there. For example, the owner of the bar where the band play could be briefly mentioned in that section. same with any other minor character - especially those with no background, and who are only seen in one storyline. Davepealing 18:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
For the paragraph I was thinking: "BMB centers around Mikhael and Harley and their friends. Harley is in a band with Cy, X, Y. Their landlord V and her lover/thug Q regularly interrupt Harley's and Mikhael's life." I would bring up other "major" minor characters here, and I think that I would wait for the storyline pages to come up to further show the minor characters, and you could simply hide the text for them on the main or character page until the sub-page is done. Bo-Lingua
Sounds shibby... I'll get started on the 'character' page. Romansanders 19:02, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Ok so it's up, check out Boy meets boy (characters) Romansanders 19:12, 25 April 2006 (UTC)
Again, I'm anal in my organising... I think it's a good idea and will definitely work, but there needs to be one complete list somewhere somehow... Romansanders 18:51, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Pictures

Got complaints of too many pictures, too long load-time, etc so i removed the example-strip one. no great loss, right? Romansanders 18:54, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Nah, that seems cool to me. I think if someone wants to see a strip they can follow the link. I just moved the cute picture into the infobox though, because there is space to do that, and it made more sense than a picture and a box squeezed up at the top. two things though: i don't know how to make the caption font bigger, plus, you might want to use a different picture. hope it helps :) Davepealing 20:03, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Episode List

I'm seting to work on judging storyline episodes into groups for a table of contents, and a small synopsis per storyline.Should we give the episodes titles for the sake of even more individuality, or just number them? ChipNoir.

I suppose as long as the names are pretty self-explanitory then that's ok... bear in mind that it's not our comic to name.
Is this list going to have its own page like the new characters one? Romansanders 18:30, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

True, true. I've only given the names in my own head and on paper because its alot easier than just giving them numbers. Even when grouped, there is easily room for as much as 10 main story arcs, and many different mini-arcs through out. It just seems easier to give them names. Not sure anyone would begrudge us doing so, and if they do, well, thats what the edit function is for, right?

So far I'm reading through and synopising "I Love you. Now get out" which is the arc involving Aurora bunking in with Harley, as well as "PS2 Blues" which involves Harley making Mikhael miserable until he gives in and buys a PS2. I should have a full list compiled by the end of the month to do with as you wish.

ChipNoir

Sandra's very approachable, and you may want to e-mail her personally to see if she has names for the story arcs. Bo-Lingua 23:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Maybe I'm just being a little dense, but I can't find her Live Journal anywhere. Help? ChipNoir

It's not that easy to find, but http://community.livejournal.com/friendlyhostile/ is her Friendly Hostility LiveJournal, which she regularly updates. I have her email address, if you'd like it... I'm just not so sure about posting it here, y'know what with privacy and all... Romansanders 13:49, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

I have multiple and personal reasons to contact her for several projects actualy, so her email would be quite handy. We can continue discussions on my public email, CookieChipLuv@Gmail.com if you like

[edit] Original Research

I am pretty sure that an article must provide sources for any research that goes into an article. You cannot simply go through the comics and provide the theme summaries yourself; this is against WP:OR and can (should?) be deleted on sight. I'm not trying to lay down a hammer here, but OR in this fashion also contravenes our NPOV standards.

The immediate reaction I'm sure everyone has as they read this is: It's just a web comic, what's the big deal? The problem being, this policy simply applies to all material on Wikipedia. I'd be glad to help reformat and guide the article to within policy, but this stuff needs to be cited from somewhere else or it must go. The webcomic (indeed, the very subject of the article) cannot be the only reference. Ironiridis 01:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Slash?

Isn't it just gay-themed, rather than slash, which I thought implied (a)fanfiction and (b)wishful thinking about straight characters? I'm not being bold on this, because I'm don't use the word enough to be certain. AlmostReadytoFly 20:05, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, my understanding of Slash fiction agrees with your summary. Though, I'm not familiar enough with the webcomic to make a determination of whether this is a dramatization of real or fictionalized characters in a homosexual relationship, or whether this is your run of the mill "just fiction". I know someone who is a slash author, I'll hand it to her and get her opinion. Ironiridis 23:14, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:BoyBand.png

Image:BoyBand.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Comixpedia.org

Erm—does anyone think that the inclusion of this comic's Comixpedia page as an external link is worthwhile, or would it be redundant, especially considering that much of the content from Comixpedia is based on Wikipedia articles?
