[edit] Difficult to understand
"The book says that these things could result in caning and penal servitude by the "higher-placed" persons in Roald’s society."
This sentence doesn't really make sense. a) it's misleading, because I'm sure 'penal servitutde' was being used in a metaphorical, humourous sense and b) it's unclear what is meant by Roald's 'society'. Does this mean a particular groups of friends, an organised boys 'secret society' or members of the wider society of the school in general? And why is 'higher placed' written between inverted commas'?
Not really clear.

[edit] Headmaster of Repton
The previous editor left a comment in the article stating that the Headmaster of Repton (as stated in this book by Roald Dahl) may not have actually have been headmaster at that point in time. This may well be correct, but that comment was not really in encyclopaedic format. For the time being I have rephrased the paragraph slightly, and have aimed to make it clear that the identity of the stated headmaster was according to Dahl as mentioned in the autobiography itself.
Perhaps someone else could establish who actually was the headmaster at that time, and if it is someone different, maybe extend the article to point out the possible minor inaccuracy in Dahl's work??

- Well Dahl began at in January 1930 and both Geoffrey Fisher & List of bishops of Chester state that Fisher didn't become a Bishop until 1932.
- The confusion may stem from at least two if not three Archbishops coming from Repton - http://www.repton.org.uk/mainlist.html?pgi=head.ors claims to have produced "Temple" (but neither Frederick nor William attended), Fisher (only as headmaster) and Ramsay.
- Fisher fits the time frame but I can't find a list of Repton headmasters to confirm it, and all the references on Wikipedia are referencing Dahl. Timrollpickering 14:27, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Image:BoyDahl2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
