Boylesports is Ireland’s largest independent bookmaker.[1] Offline it conducts business through a chain of licensed betting offices and by operating a telephone betting service. Online they offer sports betting, online poker and online casino games.
Boylesports was founded in 1989 by John Boyle. The company also markets its services in the UK to telephone betting and internet betting customers. Boylesports stated mission is to create a "modern sports betting service".
At the end of 2006 Boylesports operated 107 outlets all in mainland Ireland. The total number of employees was approximately 700.
In May 2007 Boylesports announced a 4 year contract to sponsor English Premiership team Sunderland A.F.C.. Sunderland, who have a significant Irish connection with their owners, manager and several players, are seen as an ideal marketing strategy in England. The sponsorship deal will also see Boylesports become Sunderland A.F.C. Official Betting and Gaming Partner. Boylesports will provide betting facilities throughout the Stadium of Light.[2]
