The Boyd's Forest Dragon (Hypsilurus boydii or Gonocephalus boydii) is native to northern Queensland, Australia. It has very distinctive scales on the back of its head and is brightly colored with pinkish scales on its cheeks and a yellow pouch under its neck. Despite being so brightly colored and having distinctive marks it blends in well with its rainforest home. It spends most of its time in trees but can easily be seen basking on the sides of roads. Also the forest dragon is very territorial. They almost completely eat insects but very rarely will eat fruits. The forest dragon grows to a length of 51cm. They are found around Lake Eacham (Yidyam) and Lake Barrine, and can also be seen in parts of Malanda Falls Environmental Park.
