[edit] Wikilinking of date and year
discussion copied from {{Box Office Leaders USA}}:
I don't think the date and year should be wikilinked. In the context of a particular date, the fact that a particular film was Box Office Leader in the USA for the week ending on that date isn't really all that notable. And a red link to a date range, such as in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, is completely useless. DH85868993 (talk) 09:50, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
- Phew, I finally managed to sort things out... No more redlinks for date ranges; Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest solved like this. Hopefully this is a non-issue now, apart from doing the same to the other articles where redlinks appear. GregorB (talk) 23:34, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think I've fixed up the remaining redlinks. Incidentally, it occurs to me that the (probable) reason the dates are wikilinked, is so that they appear according to the user's preferences, not to indicate the film's notability with respect to that date. So, I withdraw my original objection. (But by mentioning it, the redlink issue was addressed, so it all worked out for the best, huh?) DH85868993 (talk) 09:31, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Also, note that there is a chain of movies (starting at American Wedding and working backwards) which have "#1 Box Office" succession boxes that don't use the template. DH85868993 (talk) 09:37, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
