Boxing Ontario

Boxing Ontario is the governing body for Amateur Boxing in the province of Ontario. As such, it is affiliated with the Canadian Amateur Boxing Association (CABA) and the Association International de Boxe Amateur (AIBA).

Boxing Ontario was founded in the fall of 1972 and has experienced a steady growth over the last 30 years. Currently, Boxing Ontario encompasses more than 80 clubs in 5 regions, 900 competitors and approximately 12,000 more recreational members. Boxing Ontario also administers a youth fitness program called BOX-ON that uses boxing techniques to achieve an active lifestyle. It is a non-profit organization that is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.

Amateur Boxing has been succussful in Canada, including three Olympic Gold Medalists. The last being Lennox Lewis at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea.

To organize, promote develop interest and participation in the sport of amateur boxing in Ontario.

[edit] Cadet Club

The Cadet Club is a feature that Boxing Ontario offers to the Cadet age group. There is three different categories of Cadets. Cadet A is for 11 and 12 year olds, Cadet B is for 13 and 14 year olds and Cadet C is for 15 and 16 years old. The Cadet Club is a place where young boxers and their parents can learn about boxing in Ontario, see results and pictures from previous cadet bouts, participate in contests and lots of other fun activities. Submissions of photos, stories and anything else boxing related are welcome and may result in a prize.

Coaches Corner is a place where boxing coaches in Ontario can share their expertise and experiences while creating relationships with other coaches. It offers tips, drills and exercises that provide new and inventive ways to train your boxer. It also announces any professional development courses material that is available.
