[edit] They Might Be Giants

They Might Be Giants has a song titled "New York City" and there's some lyrics that say "and it was on the bowery when it was time to go." I assume it's a real place in NYC, because all of the other places they mention are real. Could this be the place? They've got a new show coming up on July 18 2007 that's going to be here. Anyone know any better? McKay 14:33, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Indeed. The Bowery is a pretty major location in TMBG lore. - ElbridgeGerry t c block 00:22, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
The Bowery is a long street in New York City. The Bowery Ballroom is just off the Bowery on Delancey Street. The TMBG song New York City was a cover version, the original artist was a female trio called Cub (band). TMBG changed "The Empire State where King Kong lives" to "The Empire State where Dylan lived" on the recorded version but revert to "King Kong" when they play it live. TMBG also seem to sing "it was ON the Bowery", whereas the original Cub version has "it was IN the Bowery". TMBG have played the Bowery Ballroom many times. 81.102.245.178 13:46, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
