Bow Church is the church of St Mary and Holy Trinity Bow [1]

There has been a church on the same site for approximately 700 years.

The church was bombed in the Second World War and a new bell tower was built just after the war.

[edit] Early History

The Church (as a chapel of ease) was licenced by Bishop Ralph Baldock of London on 17 November 1311 for the people of Bow and Old Ford within parish of Stepney.

By the end of the 13th century, local people were getting fed up with having to go all the way to St Dunstan's Stepney to their church, especially in winter, and felt confident (and rich) enough to petition for their own place of worship.
