Bovec is a small alpine town in northwestern Slovenia. Bovec (ISO 3166-2 geocode SI-006) lies in the Bovec basin in the Soča valley below the Kanin mountains in the Julian Alps. It is one of the 193 municipalities (občine) of Slovenia. It is situated 136 km from Ljubljana at an altitude of 434 m. It is close to the Italian border and to the Triglav National Park. It was first mentioned in 1192.
Bovec features the spring of Soča river, the 106 m high Boka waterfall, the ski resort Kanin, numerous hotels, and an airfield (LJBO). In 2007, a part of the movie, Prince Caspian, was filmed close to it.
The population is 1300.
