Boustead Group (SGX: B04, MYX: 2771) was founded in 1828 as Boustead & Co. in Singapore by Edward Boustead, an Englishman. It also had an office in Manila. Edward passed on the company to his son, Eduardo, who was half-Filipino.
The company was incorporated in 1961 under the Kuala Lumpur and Singapore stock exchanges. In 1975, the Malaysian operations were separated from overseas interests.
The Group's operations are focused in five Operating Divisions, namely Plantation, Finance & Investment, Property, Manufacturing & Trading, and Service Industry. Other areas like Boustead Emastulin the automotive division([http://www.bousteademastulin.com) also significantly contributes to their operations.
The Group has total assets in excess of RM4.0 billion in 2004, and more than 11,000 employees.
