Bourbon chicken

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bourbon chicken is a favorite food named after Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana and for the bourbon whiskey ingredient. Although this dish is served as a cajun style cuisine it is reported[citation needed] that this isn't so. the recipe is as follows 1/2 cup soy sauce (light or regular) 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1t. of powder garlic 1t. of grated ginger (can be omitted) 1 cup bourbon whiskey 2T of vinegar pinch of pepper 1 tablespoon of cornstarch.

Marinade chicken for 4 hours or overnight. Take chicken out of marinade but set and reserve for later use. Add the 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the marinade at this time. Brown chicken in large skillet, when chicken is is almost done slowly add the reserved marinade keeping the heat on high. Cook chicken in the sauce for at least 5 min bringing to a boil then turning to a high simmer. Sauce will get thicker and can be served over rice.
