Boudh

Boudh is the district seat of Boudh District, Orissa, India. It is located on the bank of Mahanadi, the largest river of the state of Orissa.

The population of the district is 373,000 and the population of the Boudh Town is 15,000. Most of the population engage in agriculture, and are thus vulnerable to periods of drought and hunger; the region is among the poorest in Orissa.

It was made the seat of the new district by then-Chief Minister Biju Pattanaik, who split the old Phulbani district in January 1994.
